Five-Shot Bullet Points: Mick Channon

On the gallops
Think of a two-year-old trainer, and Mick Channon comes pretty high on most punter's list. With about 100 two-year-olds at West Ilsley Stables there are always exciting youngsters on the horizon. Often noted for his success training fillies: Queen's Logic, Silca's Sister, Flashy Wings, Silca Chiave, Majestic Roi, Lahaleeb and Music Show have all proved high class performers with Pattern successes to their names. But what makes a winner for Mick Channon?
  • Juveniles feature a fair win rate on debut when priced 13/2 & less
  • However, few debutantes win when priced over 8/1
  • Channon's juveniles are best on their second start and feature good win and place statistics when priced 13/2 & less
  • Money is a good sign - juveniles heavily backed often go well
  • Group-entered juveniles are worth noting

Hi Jason

I must say that these five point bullet points are an excellent starting point when trying to evaluate whether to take a closer look at a particular selection.

Thanks for doing all this research and more importantly thanks for posting your findings up for us.

Hi Mark,

Well, I hope people find them helpful. To be honest, they are more important than most people would realise. As with most research, it takes time for people to trust what they read and that is what I am trying to do little by little - bring an appriciation that HCE has something to offer its readers. Patient Speculation has a similar foundation. Another good selection from you today. Very good work.
