Frankel Update from Warren Place

FRANKEL is quietly being prepared for the 2011 turf season, stepping out at first lot among other leading lights from Warren Place.

The son of Galileo finished his unbeaten 2010 campaign as the joint-top two-year-old of his generation.

He won on each of his four starts, including a stunning 10-length triumph in the Royal Lodge Stakes before finishing his season with success in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes.

Trainer Henry Cecil said: “So far, Frankel is pleasing me. He has grown, seems to have matured mentally and settled down.”

Frankel has this year been joined by his brother at Warren Place and the initial signs are all positive.

Cecil said: “We have Frankel’s full brother who is a more forward two-year-old, physically, than him and very likeable.”

On a more general note, Henry is satisfied with the conditioning work that he has been able to get into his string, despite some harsh weather and high winds over the winter months.

He said: “I feel we are forward enough at this stage. We have quite a number of unraced three-year-olds, who were either backward or had problems during 2010.

“A number of them are very likeable and it is important to try and get them out during the first weeks of April.

“After a race I will be able to assess them better and know whether we can make some sort of programme, regarding entries for, hopefully, some of the better races.”

henry has a large string of juveniles this year from a number of high profile owners. having his first group 1 winnig juvenile in what must be nearly a decade last season, i can see him building on that success this year.in my opinion cecil will become a dominant force once again in the 2 year old races as he did in the late 80s.
