Friday's Thoughts

1:45 Lingfield
Silver Ocean - an attractive gelding by Silver Train - is capable of winning a race and if coping with this drop to 5f must run a big race. Look Who's Kool showed good speed at Wolverhampton and could well set the pace here. McMahon stated that this juvenile has been temperamental and probably reason for a poor running at Thirsk. This youngster has an element of ability but may be vulnerable to a strong finisher but a juvenile with sound each-way hopes in what looks to be a moderate race. One horse worth a second chance is Whitstable Native. A difficult juvenile to assess but one that may be capable of better. Best's two-year-old finished with real purpose on debut and was fancied by the trainer to run a big race at Beverley but looked beaten after one furlong and clearly there was something amiss. At a price, this son of Bertolini may be worth a few quid each-way.

2:20 Lingfield
Only one horse stands out in this race - Dubawi Gulf. On the performance of her first two starts this would look an easy opportunity, however, there is a slight concern Dunlop's filly may be regressing and that is the dilemma. The main determinant on betting or not would depend on the price although it may pay to be careful. Worth a small wager if you can sneak a few quid at 11/4 on the exchanges.

2:30 Newmarket
Adnams Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1)
More of a watching race than betting but it would be fitting to see Margot Did run a big race today after a catalogue of near misses and hard luck stories. Perhaps they have been her own making? There should be less chance of traffic problems at Newmarket and after a break, Bell's talented filly may show a renewed zest for racing that saw this daughter of Exceed And Excel go close on so many occasions. A decent each-way chance.
