Friday's Thoughts

2:15 Sandown
Chris Wall is a very good trainer and has taken his time with Supercharged, a bay filly by Iffraaj who is held in high regard by connections. The form of her debut at Windsor sets only an average standard however she came a long way off the pace that day and should be primed for a big run. Carrignavar is difficult to assess but a lovely-looking filly who after a terribly slow start at Ffos Las ran on well without being pressured.

2:30 Chester
Barry Hills has a superb record at Chester and Captain Bertie will take all the beating here. A lovely-looking colt by Captain Rio, this is a great opportunity to gain his first victory.

3:25 Sandown
One of the most interesting two-year-old races of the day with three talented juveniles looking for their first win. General Synod will appreciate this step up in distance and after going off 5/4 favourite at Newbury and gave the impression the experience would bring about much improvement. A similar comment can be afforded to Musawama. The form of the run at Newbury is fair however Hills hardly moved on this colt and given a very easy introduction, travelling well without being pressured. This son of Azamour has a number of goup entries and recently been entered to run in a stakes race, which is a good sign. An impressive, strong colt there will be plenty of improvement to come and a big run can be expected. Arc Light sets a decent level of form and will be no push over. Not as imposing as the Gosden two-year-old [Musawama] but a battling type. He has not had any luck at the start of both races being hampered quite badly at Sandown last time and done well to get competitive after being many lengths adrift. A fascinating race. All three have strong place claims and at an each-way (4/1) price Arc Light should have a fighting chance. 7th

7:30 Wolverhampton
Makeynn ran a storming race on debut just failing against the talented Mubtadi trained by David Simcock. The main concern is the high draw which is far from ideal even over extreme distances. The main point about this race is to highlight Arctic Myth who may have a chance at a speculative price (25/1). Brendan Duke has been raving about this unraced colt by North Light all season and it would be great to see the Duke two-year-old prevail.
