Thursday's Thoughts

2:20 Ffos Las

A great opportunity for Marzante to gain his first win. Cobbs Quay, a 270,000gns purchase, makes his debut for John Gosden and should be respected if backed.

2:50 Ffos Las

Humdrum has ruined her chance on both starts this season by being slow from the stalls. This daughter of Dr Fong, owned by the Queen, has ability and ran on with real purpose at Windsor behind Winnie Dixie. With a fair start the Hannon team may have another winner. My Little Star is difficult to assess but could be a talent in her own right. The form of her Windsor debut is nothing special but she finished with some zeal and looks progressive. Bint Mazyouna may have a fighting chance at a price. After a fair debut at Goodwood, she ran no race at Windsor when behind Humdrum and is capable of better.

3:00 Lingfield

Fityaan was not disgraced when running in a Stakes race on debut and held in high regard by the stable. An attractive colt - and 100,000gns yearling - Hills must be expecting a big run today. The only slight concern could be a relatively high draw, which isn't ideal. However, clearly a leading chance. Ebony Song is an interesting juvenile for Jeremy Noseda. This American-bred colt who cost $150,000 was relatively fancied on debut but faded quite tamely. This multiple group entrant drops back a furlong and is likely to run well today. The lower draw could well be a big factor to respective chances and could be an each-way alternative to the short-priced Fityaan. His Grace - an attractive grey - is a pacey sort and has an element of ability but may struggle with this classier field.
