Sunday's Thoughts

2:25 Chester

A maiden over 7f. Not the strongest of races on paper and Profondo Rosso will take some beating on his second start. It will be interesting to see how Sole Danser runs after finishing last in a competitive Newmarket maiden. A good-looking colt, he travelled well but dramatically tired in the last two furlongs. With entries for the Champagne Stakes (Group 2) and sole representative for Hills' in the National Stakes (Group 1), that debut may soon be forgotten. Hills has an impressive record at Chester and if backed I could see this youngster going well as an each way alternative.

3:20 Newbury

Significant money on the exchanges for Gentle Lord, trained by Tom Dascombe. From the same owner as last year's talented filly Don't Tell Mary, this relatively cheap purchase would have strong claims if fancied at the off.

3:50 Newbury

Two-year-old handicaps can be a puzzle at the best of times and not generally a race type I consider. However, Nothing To Hide has been running well and although only competing in an auction race last time that form looks strong.
