6:35 Ffos Las

An EBF fillies' maiden over 6f.

On paper this looks a two-horse race.

Florestan's Match an attractive deep-chested daughter of Medicean has ability but been unlucky to have found two talented juveniles - Admirable Spirit and White Moonshine - too classy when a beaten favourite on her last two starts. Beckett must be disappointed that the win is still awaiting after three creditable efforts. On form, Florestan's match is the one to beat but will she find one too good once again?

Brian Meehan has been in decent form with his two-year-olds after a slow start to the season and it is encouraging that Brevity ran in a Goodwood maiden on debut. That was probably no more than a fair race with Meehan's other representative Mortitia winning on the line. This bay filly by Street Cry will come on for that experience - but will certainly need to improve a good deal to trouble the likely favourite.

To all ways of thinking this looks a match between the two favourites with most of the opposition needing to find substantial improvement or in the case of Imperial Pirouette setting a very high standard on debut. It is worth noting that Sugar Beet may be capable of better. Roger Charlton's filly had little chance on debut when the stalls were not used at Warwick and last time at Leicester a slow start gave no chance of being competitive. A better run can be expected today although this filly by Beat Hollow will need to be a fair sort to make much of an impression against a couple of talented juveniles.
