2:45 Newcastle

An auction race over 6f.

Lady Royale looked a winner waiting to happen after her second in the Hilary Needler at Beverley but seems to take an age to get going and not the most straight forward of two-year-olds. The new addition of cheek pieces may bring about much needed concentration and she is certainly capable of winning a race. A stiff test or healthy pace would suit as Oldroyd's youngster can finish with a dash.

Another who has found winning a stride too far is Alfraamsey. He is capable colt although always seems to find one or two too good. The last effort at Doncaster, won with ease by the talented Formosina, was a shade disappointing in ways. With so many runs under his belt you have to be careful that he may regress at some point. At his best this son of Fraam has sound each way claims.

Eland Ally is an interesting runner for Tom Tate. This bay gelding by Striking Ambition plugged on well at Newcastle when behind Move In Time. The form has taken a few knocks, however, this youngster could well improve for the experience and looks the sort to finish a race.

Of the debutantes, Talley Close has been quite well backed on the exchanges and owners Skeltools Ltd are partial to backing a winner. Fahey has fair win and place averages on debut with fancied runners and does well at Newcastle.

Thunderway may have each way claims at a price although the apprentice jockey booking may be a negative.

In conclusion, a few form horses which are looking for that elusive win and each has place claims. The debutantes will need to be a fair standard to win his on their first start.
