2:20 Warwick

An auction race for colts and fillies over 5f.

Not too many look fancied for this.

Lokis Revenge is a good-looking colt by Khallachy and cost 52,000gns at the breeze-up sales. Jarvis is a talented trainer and they must have fancied their chances when running in a four-horse race at Leicester on debut. It is difficult to assess the merit of the form in ways but the winner is racing today in the Norfolk Stakes (Group 2). This youngster will improve for that initial start and will run a big race.

William Muir has been very quiet this season with Melodize being the sole representative for the two-year-olds. A difficult juvenile to assess with his second at Catterick looking respectable but a disappointing effort at Windsor last time. It was noted that this daughter of Iceman got rather hot that day, so perhaps better may be expected. On balance, she has something to prove and I would rather watch and learn a little more.

Of the debutantes, Mega Mount and Sugar Beet are most interesting.

Mega Mount cost 34,000euros and a son of Acclamation. Beckett has fair place claims with all of his juveniles on debut. On this turning course, often run a frantic pace, inexperience can be costly and it wouldn't pay to be slow away from the stalls.

The same applies to Sugar Beet. Roger Charlton has done well with his debutantes this term which isn't the usual trend for this trainer whose two-year-olds often improve for the run. His general win rate is quite poor, but juveniles relatively fancied in the betting do hold respectable statistics. Charlton fields two for this and Sugar Beet has claims although I would rather take a watching brief with this daughter of Beat Hollow.
