4th September

A fair number of races today but only a couple of interest.

2:10 Chepstow
Not a bad standard of horse for a restricted auction race and a few form horses will be trying to gain their first win today. Crystal Gale looks an out and out galloper and will no doubt be plugging on as normal. Milnagavie showed promise on debut when unfancied and ran on with purpose in the final furlong. Venutius is a nice looking horse. This gelding ran in a fair race at Great Yarmouth and should be suited by this longer trip. The soft ground will be a test for many of these and it could be a stamina-sapping race. McMahon has excellent win and place averages on second start and should run a big race. Not the easiest of events to appreciate with a number of the form horses capable in this grade.
Bet: 1pt EW Venutius (available at 4/1) (3rd)

7:20 Kempton
Pin Cushion has progressed with racing although she didn't really flourish on her second start and doesn't look one of Meehan's better juveniles. She has an element of ability and done well to get into the race at Newbury after being dropped-out in rear, then made good headway to seemingly have a fighting chance before tiring in the latter stages. She will run a decent race although may be susceptible at short odds. Alice Alleyne is an interesting runner for Sir Michael Stoute. You can never quite tell what you will get with his juveniles on debut - from sheer brilliance to poor. The vast majority of his juveniles win at 13/2 & less on debut and he has only a fair win and place rate. I would rather watch this juvenile today. Ferris Wheel needs to improve but Cole has very good statistics for his juveniles on their second start when relatively short in the betting (13/2 & less). This filly has a decent chance if in this betting guide.

Bet: 1pt EW Ferris Wheel (available at 4/1) (1st)
