Pinnacle Lad and Oondiri have shown an element of ability although neither have set the world alight. Experience will certainly give them a boost against those making their debuts, however the fact that Pinnacle Lad has been entered for a selling/claiming event suggests this gelding is limited.
It wouldn't be a surprise to see this going to a juvenile making its debut even though inexperience will make this a tougher task. Ingleby Spirit is one of the more expensive juveniles in this race and this colt by Avonbridge, from a low draw, is one for the shortlist here. It is certainly encouraging that he has been entered to run in a stakes race. He wouldn't have to be a good horse to win.
Pepper Lane represents the Barron yard who have done well with their juveniles this season.
Of the others Miccolo is a long shot. Although he showed no ability on debut this juvenile has a bit of size and scope, quite well bred and the trainer's horses can often improve for the run. It's a bit of an all or nothing bet but at a big price in a bad race it may have a chance. (TC*)

Race review: ' This didn't look the greatest of contests. Pinnacle Lad & Sacred Star led from the start and Spearing's two-year-old made a bold bid to defy the late challenges of Pepper Lane and the ultimate winner Novay Essjay. Partick Haslmas' colt is an attractive, deep-chested sort and backed to show something today. Pepper Lane ran on well in the final furlong and may have won in another stride or two.'
